A prediction for the Broncos 53 man roster

My friend Tim is a former (and possible future) sports blogger who follows the NFL almost as closely as I do.  While I am an Eagles fan, his family is originally from Colorado, so he has been a lifelong Denver Broncos fan.  If I had the ability to look at every single NFL roster and then the subsequent time to write about them I would, but in the meantime, I trust Tim’s evaluation of his own team.  With that said, here is his projection for the Broncos 53 man roster, as well as his plan for the practice squad:

  1. Tim Hutchinson says:

Some notes to go along with this:
QB: Dysert could very well not make the 53 man roster, but if he does, don’t expect him to make the practice squad. He looked very good last night, and will likely be a good option for a team like the Bills in need of a QB.
RB: Jacob Hester could easily take Dysert’s spot if he’s cut, as he’s the only one who played any FB in the offense. However I think Jeremiah Johnson could fill that role if necessary, which is why I left him off.
WR: Cutting Gerell was so tough after his game and the camp he had. I’m hoping no one claims him if he does get cut, because he could be a very nice player in this league.
TE: Virgil Green is the odd man out here. I can’t see 4 TE’s making the roster, and Julius Thomas has fought his way into a starting role seemingly.
OL: Moffitt just beats out Vinston Painter. Painter needs more refinement, but played well last night. Could go either way though.
DL: I think Jeremy Beal did enough to make the team, but don’t be surprised if they keep an extra WR or RB in his place.
LB: The injury to Lerentee McCray may open up another slot if the Broncos choose to try and send him to IR. He had a great camp and deserves a spot, but sometimes that’s not enough.
DB: Omar Bolden saved his spot last night by switching to safety. He was the odd man out as a CB, being 6th on the depth chart. I would love to see him eventually bump Mike Adams out of there with Duke.

The top 3 practice squad guys are who, in order, I hope make the roster if any of these players don’t.
